Mouthwash Tablets

Mouthwash tablets are dry, compressed tablets that dissolve in water to create a mouthwash. Drop one tablet into approximately 20ml of water, let it fizz and dissolve completely, then swish the solution around your mouth for 30 to 60 seconds and spit. Our tablets use sodium bicarbonate as the active base, it creates the effervescent action when it meets water and helps neutralise acids in the mouth. Peppermint oil and menthol provide antibacterial freshness. It's the same function as a bottled mouthwash, without the plastic, without the alcohol, and without the preservatives needed to keep a liquid product stable on a shelf.

Three reasons: ingredients, format, and waste. On ingredients: most conventional liquid mouthwashes use alcohol as a carrier and antimicrobial, which dries out the mouth and disrupts the oral microbiome indiscriminately. Our tablets use sodium bicarbonate and peppermint oil, effective without the collateral damage. On format: because tablets are dry, they don't need water, preservatives or stabilisers in the formula, which means a higher concentration of active ingredients. On waste: a refill pouch of 720 tablets replaces roughly 20 plastic mouthwash bottles. The refillable glass dispenser is designed to last, you just drop in a new pouch when it runs out.

The formula contains sodium bicarbonate, tartaric acid, citric acid, peppermint essential oil (Mentha Piperita), sodium benzoate and menthol. Sodium bicarbonate is the primary active: it's a mild alkaline that neutralises the acids produced by oral bacteria, helping to rebalance the pH in your mouth after eating. Tartaric acid and citric acid create the effervescent reaction that helps the tablet dissolve quickly. Peppermint oil and menthol provide antibacterial action and long-lasting freshness. The formula is free from fluoride, SLS, alcohol, glycerin and artificial sweeteners.

Yes, the active ingredients do the same job, they're just delivered in a different format. Sodium bicarbonate has been shown to reduce bacterial counts in the oral cavity and help neutralise acid. Peppermint oil (menthol specifically) has documented antibacterial properties. What you won't get is the burning sensation of an alcohol-based mouthwash, but that sensation is a side effect of the alcohol, not a sign of effectiveness.
