Most of us replace our toothbrush every 3 months, that’s 4 toothbrushes a year just for one person. To put that into perspective, that’s around 260 million toothbrushes used and thrown out in the UK alone. Almost all of these will end up in landfill, and will take around 500 years to fully biodegrade. Meaning the first ever plastic toothbrush is still in a landfill site somewhere.

Our packaging is about much more than just looking good – it is designed to be plastic-free, biodegradable and recyclable ensuring nothing goes to landfill sites. In some instances it is impossible to avoid unnatural elements altogether. For instance the bristles on our FSC Beechwood Toothbrushes are made of nylon (the current natural alternative is pig’s hair – yuck!). Although these small things are unavoidable, the toothbrush heads can be recycled via the ZTL Scheme.

All our cartons and containers are suitable for general recycling, although we would prefer them to be repurposed or refilled. The glass jars and aluminium caps, even with their liners, can be recycled an unlimited number of times. A much better alternative to plastic, which can only be recycled a couple of times. By choosing our packaging carefully, we can reduce landfill waste and promote a cleaner planet.
