FAQs
What's the difference between dental floss and interdental brushes?
Dental floss is a thin thread designed to slide between tight contact points where teeth sit closely together. It's ideal for removing plaque and debris from narrow spaces. Interdental brushes, on the other hand, use small bristled heads to clean wider gaps between teeth, they're particularly effective for anyone with spacing, bridgework, or orthodontic appliances. Many dental professionals recommend using both: floss for tight contacts, brushes for wider interdental spaces. Together, they provide the most thorough clean between teeth.
How often should I clean between my teeth?
Ideally, once a day. Whether you choose floss, interdental brushes, or both depends on your mouth. The key is consistency, daily interdental cleaning significantly reduces plaque buildup, helps prevent gum disease, and supports long-term oral health. It doesn't matter whether you do it before or after brushing, as long as it becomes part of your routine.
Which interdental product should I start with?
If you've never cleaned between your teeth beyond brushing, dental floss is the easiest starting point, it works for most gaps and requires no sizing. If you find floss difficult to use or have wider spaces between your teeth, interdental brushes are often more effective and easier to handle. Your dentist or hygienist can also recommend the right tool and size based on your specific gaps.
Are Georganics interdental products suitable for sensitive gums?
Yes. Our dental floss is coated with natural wax for a smooth, gentle glide, and our interdental brushes use soft, BPA-free nylon bristles that clean effectively without irritating gum tissue. If you experience bleeding when you first start using interdental products, this is common and usually subsides within a week or two of regular use. If bleeding persists, consult your dentist.
