Recycled Aluminium

How Aluminium is Recycled in the UK?

Aluminium stands out as one of the most sustainable materials due to its infinite recyclability and substantial environmental benefits. In the UK, the aluminium recycling process is both efficient and effective, leading to significant energy savings and waste reduction

This commitment to sustainability is a key reason why we have opted aluminium tubes for our New Toothpastes. Our tubes are made from recycled aluminium, further reducing our environmental footprint. Our Aluminium tubes are also specifically designed for cosmetic use, ensuring that the toothpaste never comes into direct contact with the metal.

The Aluminium Recycling Process in the UK

The UK's aluminium recycling process involves several critical steps:

•    Collection - Aluminium waste, including cans, foil, and packaging, is gathered through municipal and private recycling programs.

•    Sorting - Advanced technologies, such as magnetic separators and eddy currents, are employed to separate aluminium from other materials.

•    Cleaning - The collected aluminium is meticulously cleaned to eliminate contaminants.

•    Melting - The purified aluminium is melted in specialized furnaces, consuming approximately 95% less energy than producing aluminium from raw bauxite.

•    Reforming - The molten aluminium is cast into ingots or rolled into sheets, ready for manufacturing new products.

Environmental Benefits of Aluminium Recycling

Recycling aluminium offers substantial environmental advantages:

•    Energy Savings - Recycling aluminium requires about 95% less energy compared to primary production from bauxite.

•    Reduced Carbon Emissions - This significant energy reduction leads to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to primary aluminium production.

•    Resource Conservation - Each tonne of recycled aluminium preserves approximately four tonnes of bauxite, the raw material used for primary aluminium production.

•    Waste Reduction - Aluminium's ability to be recycled indefinitely without quality loss significantly diminishes the volume of waste directed to landfills.

Most importantly, 75% of the aluminium produced since 1880 is still in use today, showcasing its durability and exceptional recyclability.

Why We Use Recycled Aluminium for Our Toothpaste Tubes

At Georganics, our commitment to sustainability drives our packaging choices. By selecting recycled aluminium for our new toothpaste tubes, we align with our mission to minimize waste and reduce carbon emissions. Unlike traditional plastic tubes, which are challenging to recycle, aluminium tubes are widely accepted in recycling programs and can be repurposed indefinitely.

To ensure product safety and maintain the integrity of our natural ingredients, our toothpaste tubes are specifically designed for cosmetic use, preventing any direct contact between the toothpaste and the metal. This design choice offers a fully recyclable packaging solution without compromising on product quality.

By choosing recycled aluminium, we are making a conscious decision to minimize waste, lower our carbon footprint, and provide our customers with a more sustainable alternative to plastic packaging.
