What are the five pillars of Earth Day 2021?

The theme of Earth day this year is Restore Our Earth. Within that there are five pillars:

The Canopy Project

The Canopy Project improves our shared environment by planting trees across the globe. Since 2010, Earth Day has planted tens of millions of trees with The Canopy Project, working worldwide to strengthen communities.

Foodprints for the Future

A foodprint measures the environmental impacts associated with the growing, producing, transporting, and storing of our food— from the natural resources consumed to the pollution produced to the greenhouse gases emitted.

Through this campaign, Earth Day aims to highlight the different ways individuals and institutions can make an impact on their foodprints.

The Great Global Clean-up

Climate Literacy

Combined with civic education, climate and environmental literacy can create jobs, build a green consumer market and allow citizens to engage with their governments in a meaningful way to solve climate change.

Global Earth Challenge

Beginning in April 2020, Global Earth Challenge helps engage millions of people while integrating billions of data points from new and ongoing citizen science projects.

What can I do to help the cause?

The Earth Day website has lots of resources to inspire and educate you, helping you find and explore the many ways you can make a difference.

This year, Georganics will be planting a tree for every order placed on Earth Day (22 April). We are also offering a FREE Activated Charcoal Toothpaste powder with every order placed with a value of £20+.

Cutting out plastic products in the bathroom is a great first step for people looking to make a difference. The average person will throw away 52,000 items of bathroom waste in their lifetime, most of which are plastic and will end up in landfills. Switching to products with recyclable and compostable packaging has a huge impact and lessens the amount of plastic ending up in landfills and the oceans.
